Art is made by all kinds of people. Some have made art since they were at school. Some have gone to art college. Others take it up later in life while doing another job.

Many celebrities are artists and designers as well as being actors, models, musicians, business leaders and sports stars.

Footballers and artDavid James, the England goalkeeper, is a keen painter and has appeared on TV talking about art. He continued on his interest in art from school and finds it a way to relax when he isn't playing or training.

Aragorn from Lord of the Rings Actor Viggo Mortensen started painting after he had been acting for a while. He paints abstract mixed media paintings, adding nails, photos, rope and fabric to his canvases. His paintings appeared in the film A Perfect Murder.

Business leader and artist? Philip Hughes, the co-founder and former CEO of Logica, one of the world's largest IT solutions companies has always been a keen artist. He was commissioned to create tapestries for the HQ of Boots PLC and work for the famous Quaglino's restaurant. He produces art based on Scottish landscapes and regularly exhibits in Scotland. Art school and bands "I think people have this illusion of art school as being either two things, incredibly pretentious kind of guys, who walk around reading Camus all day or zany, wacky kind of like "Woo, look at me I'm wearing a funny hat" kind of thing which it's not really true. People who go to art school are actually the most normal people that I've ever met, just incredibly excited about creating things, creating something new and not scared about tackling new ideas...so maybe that's the key to art school bands".
