enjoyment

Paul Cezanne

have fun!

Art and design allow you to show your own take on the world around you, expressing your feelings and exploring how you look at things. This is your chance to see how you can improve the way things work or to make your own discoveries.

Being creative teaches you to reach higher and think in unusual and new ways. It encourages you to question how the world works and how it is represented.

Above all, art + design are fun (if a little frustrating at times). Even if you don't go into an obviously artistic career, you can continue to draw, paint, design and create in your spare time

Experiment with new materials and combinations of techniques. Look at as many artists and designers as you can, take their ideas and make them your own. Play around and merge them. Distort them and rip them up. Work out what makes them tick.

Take designs and imagine them in completely different contexts. Re-imagine swimwear for the Arctic. Create dresses from sunglasses, suits from leaves, jewellery from animal bones. Use a Renaissance painting as a source for a boarder's T-shirt. Re-design overalls based on images from films. Turn welly boots into sculptures.
