be winners!

A fabulous result in the 2008-2009 Lyreco/Highland Council A Curriculum for Excellence Calendar Competition. Arthur Kirkwood and Sasha McMahon gained first prizes of Nintendo Wiis, with Keryne MacLeod, Jamie Trinder and Samantha Watson being awarded runners-up prizes of Nintendo DSs.

Thirteen Grantown art pupils had their artwork selected as part of Highland Council's Homecoming 2009 Virtual Gallery. The work has been digitised and will be projected at various locations throughout the Highlands during 2009.

Our second Christmas exhibition was a major success, with excellent artworks from every year group being exhibited in the Grantown Museum. Proceeds from the show were split between the pupils and the art fund - we managed to raise enough money to pay for a set of books for the HIgher class.

2007 was also a brilliant year of success for Grantown art students. Stacy Grant won a first prize in the 2007-2008 Lyreco/Highland Council Eco-schools Calendar Competition. Runners up prizes were won by Jade Mackenzie, Arthur Kirkwood and Elizabeth Pirie. Check out a selection of the works submitted for the competition here...

In December over 100 fabulous works were exhibited in the GGS Affordable Art Exhibition, resulting in over £800 in sales, raising over £200 as part of the Parent Council's fundraising efforts.

Last year's winners: Arthur Kirkwood, Phoebe Kirkwood, Kirsty Fraser and Fergus Thom were presented with Playstation Portables and goody bags full of art materials. Thomas Caldwell, Vicky Beattie and Megan Druce won runners-up prizes of portable TV/DVD players.

This is such a major achievement for the pupils and for the school that the sponsors came to Grantown Grammar to present the awards to all the prizewinners.
