design is 'intelligence made visible'

be stylish!

Design activities will teach you how to come up with stylish, inventive and fun solutions to real world problems. It might be re-designing a logo, working out new ideas for packaging, creating a range of fashion items or developing chairs and seating for specific clients.

Each year you will try a different aspect of design. You will learn about researching and investigating existing designs and finding source ideas. You will develop your initial ideas into several possible solutions. Last you will produce a high quality final outcome.

Design is all about improving the way we live, so keep an eye out for things you would improve. How could you make your chair more comfortable, better to look at and safer to sit in? Think about how you could change adverts or other designs to be more attractive to your age group. Re-design clothes to suit you.

Research and investigation

First you must research existing designs and find visual sources or ideas to help you with your project.

Development

Next you will develop these ideas and sources into something new. Play around with these designs and find what works and what needs to be improved.

Final outcome

Finally you will create a final outcome, based upon the ideas and designs you have developed.
