S2 course

Tony Cragg

be creative!

S2 builds on the skills you will have learnt and developed in S1. This year you will look at interior and architectural design using one and two point perspective - you will draw streets of buildings in realistic looking 3D, then design your own room, using your own designs and strange optical art effects.

As you will be making your subject choices during S2, you will get tasters of what Standard Grade art + design will involve. You will have a shot at a design project - you will be able to choose from fashion, graphics (hand-drawn or computer aided), product design (e.g. cars, iPods, PS3s, mobiles), jewellery design, or interior and architectural design.

There will be some lessons exploring the work of famous artists whose work will give you more ideas for your own paintings and drawings.

There will be the chance to work with clay or do some printmaking.

Expressive lessons will involve figure drawing - you will learn how to group figures together and to work on the proportions of the body. You will also further improve on your painting skills through classes on still life, landscapes and portraits.

Design lessons will develop your understanding of pattern and use this to make a textile design and create a tie or other item of clothing.

Homework will allow you to explore the different aspects of art + design - get a homework sheet and deadline information here...
